Naming Contests

Okay, get ready and start thinking of names! Our second naming contest is getting ready to start and, this time, there are two babies to name! As you know, our ewe Astrid had two beautiful baby girls this spring. They are both doing great and growing like weeds, but we are tired of simply calling them 'baby'. We thought we'd post this picture here so those of you who haven't met them in person yet can get a good look. The ewe on the left (with horns) is what is called a Moorit witch basically means brown. (On a side note, a common misconception is that only males have horns. This is obviously not true as seen here and of course you know that Oona also has horns. No, horns are simply a genetic trait and both males and females can have them.) This lamb is actually quite outgoing and is usually the first to come up up to you and say hi... Well, at least to see if you have treats. The ewe on the right is called a Moorit Mouflon which denotes the lighter underbelly and face markings. It's actually a somewhat sought after color. While she seems a bit more cautious, once you gain her trust, you can tell she likes attention. She's a sweetheart and it's fun to watch her playing with her sister and bounding through the fields. So here are your two naming candidates. Start thinking of your name suggestions, but keep them to yourself for now. We will be posting the rules and officially starting the Naming Contest soon!
